Doggy devotion! Calista Flockhart dons grey sweater taking beloved furry friend to vet in LA's sizzling heat

Calista Flockhart and her pooch braved the heat as she escorted her beloved canine to a Los Angeles vet Thursday.

The former Ally McBeal star seemed in decent spirits as she walked her black and tan pup to the vet's office.

Although the LA temperature was scorching Flockhart didn't reveal much skin in a long-sleeved grey blouse and dark denim jeans.

The 50-year-old actress and her husband Harrison Ford are well known for being animal lovers and have adopted many rescue pups over the years.

According to Boise Weekly, the Golden Globe winner and her Indiana Jones husband rescued an abused dog and her litter in Idaho back in 2009.

Recently we've seen Calista at the vet's office regularly with their other rescue but this visit didn't seem life threatening for the loyal companion.

Close friends and family know the blonde beauty has always been a faithful dog lover.

Her most devoted companion, a terrier mutt named Webster was on the Ally McBeal set with the actress almost every day.

However after more than 10 years together, Webster grew old and sadly had to be put down in 2004.

According to a report by AskMen Calista was absolutely devastated by the loss and looked to her husband for support.

However the death of Calista's best canine friend nearly caused a split from Harrison at the time.

Sources close to the couple alleged she felt Harrison had not given her enough support following the death of her cream-colored companion.

The pet was put down just five weeks after the actor lost his mother, Dorothy, to lung cancer.

Struggling with his own grief, the report claimed Calista was wrong to expect his sympathy at such a difficult time.

'Harrison doesn't think losing a dog is a big deal,' one source said. 'It is causing all sorts of problems because Webster was essentially Calista's best friend.'

'She can see why Harrison is really upset at the death of his mother but she doesn't think that should detract from her own grief,' added the source.

'She told me she thinks he doesn't care,' the source pointed out. 'Harrison is so down he can't even think about anything else.'
