A Star Wars stunt double is fighting for her life after a freak accident on set.

Olivia Jackson was shooting a high-speed motorcycle chase when she crashed into a metal camera arm.

The 32-year-old, from Amersham, Buckinghamshire, has been in an induced coma since Saturday after suffering serious head injuries and a punctured lung.

She was not believed to be wearing protective headgear while filming the scene for sci-fi movie Resident Evil: The Final Chapter in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Her British husband, David Grant, who is also a stuntman, flew from Malta to be by her side.

He wrote on Facebook: 'She's my inspiration and my world and one tuff little motherf*****! 

'She's fighting hard and the team of people working on Olive have been amazing and have been doing some incredible work.'

A source said Mrs Jackson had 'no chance' when the camera failed to move out of her way during the scene.

They told The Sun: 'It wasn’t a very dangerous stunt.

'She was riding a motorbike in a straight line but due to the scene she had no protective gear or helmet.

'There is a metal arm which carries the camera along. But it malfunctioned and didn’t lift up. It was totally out of her control.'

The South African-born stuntwoman is due to feature in the upcoming Star Wars VIII: The Force Awakens which is released in December.

She has also been a stunt double for Charlize Theron and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in this year's box office hit Mad Max: Fury Road and for Karen Gillan in Guardians of the Galaxy.

On her Instagram page, she describes herself as a 'model, retired Pro Muaythai fighter, dedicated dirt-scooter rider, Mahayana Buddhist and Sun & ocean lover'.
