Is the 'curse of motherhood' behind showbiz's biggest splits? How Kourtney and Scott and Sienna and Tom's relationships crumbled after starting a family

  • Sienna Miller split from Tom Sturridge - the pair have a daughter, three
  • The 33-year-old said her life has turned into 'chaos' since having baby
  • Other celebrity couples have suffered a similar fate after having children

Adapting to motherhood is never easy, as actress Sienna Miller, 33, revealed in a candid interview with British Vogue this week.

Ms Miller, who has a three-year-old daughter named Marlowe, even blamed her recent split from Tom Sturridge, 29, on the pressures of child rearing, describing it as 'the curse of motherhood'.

'Obviously when you have a baby it's the most incredible experience but your life is also catapulted into this chaos and you are exhausted,' she continued. 'I'd like to be better at managing things.'

Discussing the split, she continued: 'It's been really quite overwhelming recently, just with the volume of everything going on.

'Everything is shifting. It's actually been the s******* year, and amazing. It's always yin and yang.'

But while Ms Miller's decision to go public about the pressure of being a celebrity mother, she isn't the only one to have found herself single after having a child.

Another couple who hit the rocks shortly after becoming parents were Orlando Bloom, 38, and Miranda Kerr, 32, who dated for three years before tying the knot in July 2010.

Six months later, the former Victoria's Secret model gave birth to their first child, son Flynn, just as speculation about the deteriorating state of the couple's relationship intensified.

In October 2013, they decided to call it a day but gave no official reason for the split. The Australian beauty later told Harper's Bazaar magazine that she and her ex still 'speak everyday'.

'We're really close, we're going to be a family forever and we both really do love each other,' she continued, adding that Bloom is a 'great dad' and she has 'genuine love and respect' for him.

Another A-list pair who remain close despite going their separate ways after having a baby are Kate Moss and Jefferson Hack.

The 41-year-old supermodel, who famously dated Johnny Depp and Pete Doherty, fell for the charms of the lanky magazine editor after he interviewed her for Dazed & Confused.

'There's been a lot of different men mentioned in your life recently but no one permanent relationship. Is there no one out there good enough for you?' the 44-year-old reportedly asked her.

The pair hooked up almost immediately and dated for four years. Their daughter Lila Grace was born in 2003 but they parted ways two years later.

They share custody of their 12-year-old daughter and Lila has her own room at Jefferson's house that she has been allowed to decorate herself.

'She's got a bunkbed, which she's very excited about,' he told The Guardian in 2010.

The ever-supportive Hack has also been seen at his ex-girlfriend's side following reports that her marriage to The Kills musician Jamie Hince is on the rocks.

He told the Financial Times in 2014: 'Kate’s a wonderful mother but we've moved on and it wouldn't be fair to speak about her in public.'

Like Moss and Hack, Kate Hudson and Matt Bellamy remain on friendly terms despite splitting three years after they welcomed a son.

A representative for the couple confirmed reports that they had ended their long-term engagement in December 2014, saying: 'Kate and Matt have been separated for some time now.

'Despite this, they remain very close friends and committed co-parents.'

The Muse front-man, 37, took to Twitter to thank his fans for their support following the announcement and said it was 'for the best'.

'Love all of you guys! We’re both very happy, it's for the best. Thanks for your kind words. Now about that new album…' he wrote.

The pair now share custody of three-year-old Bingham Hawn Bellamy.

Ms Kardashian's situation echoes the acrimonious end of another celebrity marriage - that of Britney Spears and Kevin Federline.

After a whirlwind three month romance, the two announced their engagement in July 2004 before going on to marry the same year.

Less than a year later, they welcomed their first child, Sean Preston Federline in September 2005, followed swiftly by Jayden James Federline in September 2006.

However, two months after having their second son, Ms Spears filed for divorce citing 'irreconcilable differences'.

Although both filed for sole custody of their young boys, a judge granted them joint access in July 2007.

'I think she's okay with the terms,' Britney's attoney Laura Wasser explained at the time. 'I think they were each hoping they would have more custody time, but hopefully that can be worked out.'

Despite their turbulent relationship, 37-year-old Federline recently said he has 'great memories' of their time together.

He told US Weekly: 'There was ups and downs. We’re not perfect people, obviously. There’s things that she did, there’s things that I did…

'I think all of that is just from being young and everything plays a part into it…[but] I have so many great memories, they outweigh the bad.'

Two entertainment powerhouses came together when Madonna hooked up with film producer Guy Ritchie in November 2008.

The 57-year-old hit maker gave birth to their son Rocco in August 2000 and the pair tied the knot four months later.

In 2006, the couple added to their growing family when they adopted a Malawian baby boy named David Banda.

But just two years later, reports claiming the couple's marriage was on the rocks began circulating and were later confirmed by Madonna's spokeswoman, Liz Rosenberg.

'Madonna and Guy Ritchie have agreed to divorce after seven and a half years of marriage,' she said.

'They have both requested that the media maintain respect for their family at this difficult time. A final settlement has not been agreed upon yet.'

Later, in an interview with NBC Madonna said: 'Just staying home and looking after my children and being a mother and a wife is not what I want. I want more.'

She also spoke about the difficulties of juggling a high-profile career and motherhood: 'I have to be mom and and wife and there are times when I should have, you know, hung out with my kids, and I just said, "No, I need a massage. I'm gonna do that instead. You know? And I’m gonna be selfish.'
