They recently celebrated their seventh wedding anniversary.

So proving that they're more in sync than ever before, Ellen DeGeneres and wife Portia de Rossi cut a coordinated figure on Thursday evening.

Attending a Bergdorf Goodman event as part of New York Fashion Week, the happy couple were in unison as they both rocked tailored ensembles.

Standing side by side as they posed for pictures, Ellen and Portia worked the androgynous look as they both donned two piece black suits.

DeGeneres opted to team her get up with suede boots and a crisp white shirt buttoned all the way up while her better half stood tall in pointed black stilettos and wore a frilly cream blouse.

Ahead of the fashion event, Ellen and Portia were all smiles as they were pictured walking hand-in-hand through New York.

The outing came days after Ellen described her spell as a judge on American Idol as one of her 'worst decisions' - not something that could be said about tying the knot with Portia.

For their walk Ellen was dressed in slim-fitting grey trousers with a buttoned blue shirt and straw fedora. Her outfit was simply accessorised with laced grey shoes and an oversized watch.

The famed television host wore minimal make-up, keeping her eyes hidden under a pair of shades.

Meanwhile Arrested Development's Portia was typically feminine in a layered sheer skirt, black sheer blouse worn over a vest, and fringed open-toe booties and bag.

Speaking on shock jock Howard Stern's radio show this week, Ellen explained that she and Portia are secretly delighted about reports their marriage is on the rocks.

Ellen said: 'We're kind of flattered, because for awhile no one cared about us and we thought 'oh, lesbians aren't worthy of tabloid stories.

'So now we're kind of flattered that they even care about us.'

Talking about her decision to replace Paula Abdul on American Idol back in 2009, she told Stern: 'That's one of the worst decisions I've made.'

And the daytime chat doyenne confessed it was her own love of the programme that made her want to appear on it, before her decision blew up in her face.

'As a fan of the shows, it doesn't matter that I sing or I know anything about pitch or anything, I'm like everybody else at home. It's American Idol.

'So I thought I'm gonna represent those people at home that have opinions… but then I just thought, like Howard says, I can't break this person's heart. Let somebody else do that.'
