Annie Lennox has been seen in public for the first time since attending the memorial service for her daughter's boyfriend last month.

Tali Lennox's partner Ian Jones lost his life on August 8 after their kayak was capsized by powerful currents on the Hudson River, leaving him to be swept away to his death.

A memorial service was held for the 32-year-old just one week later, with the singer there to support her heartbroken daughter.

And on Thursday afternoon, just over a month after the tragic accident, Annie emerged in London's Notting Hill after enjoying a visit to the Electric Cinema.

Looking relaxed and in good spirits, the 60-year-old music icon cut a casual figure in blue jeans, a floral shirt, a blazer and brown boots.

She was joined by a male companion after the film screening, as the two walked through the London district together in the afternoon.

It was the first time she had been seen in public following the memorial service for Jones - Tali's boyfriend of several years - in Bensalem, Pennsylvania on August 15.

He had been was trying to save Tali's life after their kayak capsized as they spent time on the Hudson River, New York state.

Tali, 22, was not seen among the 300 mourners at Christian Life Church in Bensalem, but is believed to have been there at the funeral, held seven days after her boyfriend's passing.

Her mother and sister, Lola Lennox, were pictured arriving together for the ceremony.

As for the other funeral attendees, most were dressed in all black as they comforted one another with hugs and support.

The funeral program showed that the ceremony would include a reading of Jones' favorite scripture, Colossians 2:7, a sharing of memories and performances of Imagine by Lola Lennox and Amazing Grace by Alex Levin. The back cover included a poem, titled After Glow.

Jones' death was deemed an accidental drowning after authorities pulled his body from the water near the Poughkeepsie Yacht Club a few days after the incident..

'My heart is shattered,' Tali, a model-turned actress, wrote on her Instagram at the time.

'My best friend, my soul mate, my partner in crime & creativity, the love & light of my life is no longer with me.

'All the love that has been sent to me is giving me the strength to get through this. I know that he is so so happy that I was safely rescued.

'Let us honor & celebrate this beautiful soul & keep following the light.'

The post has received nearly 1,500 'likes' and hundreds of comments from sympathetic well-wishers since being posted.

Emotional: Though Tali herself was not pictured outside the church with other mourners at the funeral, it is believed that she did attend

'His life was filled with creativity,' reads the announcement from Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home. 'Ian was a successful model with IMG in New York. Not only was he a beautiful model, but he was a beautiful soul. He was a kid at heart, funny, down to earth, caring man. He was a bright light to all who knew him.'

In a statement the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office said: 'Just after 12:00 pm on 8/10/15 a human male body was located in the Hudson River near the Poughkeepsie Yacht Club.

'The body has been removed, and is scheduled to undergo an autopsy on Tuesday 8/11/15 to determine the cause of death and identification.

'The body matches the description of Mr. Ian Jones, who has been missing in the Hudson River since the morning of Saturday 8/8/15 after a kayaking accident.

Tragic: Police announced that a body was pulled from the river a few days after the accident - Jones had been dating Tali for several years

'While there is a strong possibility that the body recovered is that of Mr. Jones, it remains only a possibility at this time.

Further information will be released once the autopsy is completed and official identification made, and at this time the search has been suspended until further notice.

Earlier the sheriff's department had said that they feared drink had been part of the cause.

Captain John Watterson of the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office said the following dat: 'We believe that alcohol may have played a role' in the incident.

A very strong current in the river is also thought to have been a factor. Neither Lennox or Jones were wearing life jackets at the time.

Safety: Lennox managed to get to safety thanks to a passing boat, but her boyfriend remained in the river after her tried to save her life

Lennox was picked up by a passing boat after being separated from Jones in the water.

Authorities used 'extensive resources' to search for Jones after a 911 call reported him missing.

They resumed their search on Sunday morning and again on Monday before suspending it at noon when the body was found.

Lennox was uninjured and was not taken to hospital, the Poughkeepsie Journal reported.

Watterson said. 'The current in the Hudson River is very strong and we believe the current played a role in the kayak capsizing, and once the two got in the water it was difficult for them to stay together.'

Representatives for Tali Lennox did not respond to a request for comment from MailOnline.
