After resisting the siren call of Twitter for years, actress Joanna Lumley finally joined the micro-blogging site in June.

However, in what will be a crushing disappointment to her 16,000 followers, the 69-year-old Ab Fab star tells me she doesn’t even write her own tweets.

‘I don’t do Twitter, my agent does Twitter for me but they sometimes write things as if I’ve written it,’ she tells me. For verisimilitude luvvie kisses are occasionally added after messages.

‘I don’t even have a mobile phone,’ adds Lumley. ‘I don’t know how to text — I know how to type though, I’m not a complete imbecile. I just don’t have it; your life is in danger when you’re going yap yap yap all the time.

‘When I’m on location people who want to contact me don’t speak to me directly, they speak to someone else who runs up to me and kneels on the ground before me with the message.’

How very regal.

Secret baby agony of Bath heir's wife

Viscount Weymouth has revealed how he fell out with his mother after she suggested his marriage to a half-Nigerian woman in 2013 would ruin ‘400 years of bloodline’.

Now his wife, Emma McQuiston, 28, discloses that despite giving birth to a son, John, last year, she might not be able to have another child.

Emma had to have an emergency Caesarean after doctors found a growth on her brain.

Almost a year on, she is still not fully recovered and has to have scans every three months. Doctors have diagnosed her with a rare condition of the pituitary gland.

‘Pregnancy would definitely make me feel nervous,’ she admits. ‘It might be related to pregnancy because that makes everything swell.

‘I do so want a friend for John. I think two babies would be a lovely number of children to have, but obviously it is a concern. It was a serious illness.’

The Great British Bake Off’s Sue Perkins recently revealed that a similar growth on her pituitary gland stopped her having children.
