Australians are asking how many more deaths it will take to see change, after five tragic domestic violence incidents made headlines in just one week. For the year so far, the horrifying death toll stands at 62. The women in the gallery pictured died violent deaths before their time, often at the hands of men who were supposed to love them. She was found dead at the Crown Casino hotel in Southbank, a central Melbourne suburb, on Thursday afternoon - national R U OK Day. Police confirmed they are not treating the death as suspicious.

Incredible footage has emerged of the moment a huge crocodile has propelled itself out of the water appearing to briefly fly, captured in the shallow waters of the Cobourg Peninsula, Northern Territory. Although not visible straight away, the crocodile uses its camouflage to blend in with the rocky underwater surrounding before propelling itself briefly into the air.

What might have been a joke has landed a group of teenagers in hot water. Sandhurst graduate Daniel Howard, 29, inset, from Darlington, left a devastating impact on his victim after launching the drunken attack in February last year. Nashville photographer Sam Donato has snapped an incredible series of close-ups of spiders, and has captured a bizarrely adorable side to the eight-legged critters as they devour their dinner. Sam spent hours waiting for the arachnids to reveal their natural behaviour, using extension tubes and reverse mounted prime lenses with his camera to track the tiny beasts' lives. But, he revealed, the main problem is getting his elusive subjects to sit still for long enough.

Purin the beagle, 9, (above) has smashed her previous world record for the most goals saved by a dog with the paws in one minute. The beagle, from Chiba in Japan, managed to make a whopping 14 saves - beating her last personal best by three. Purin's success comes just in time for her to be featured in the 60th edition of the Guinness book of World Records. The talented pooch belongs Makoto Kumagai, who has owned Purin since she was born. The pair practice together at their home in Japan for 15 minutes a day.
