SEBASTIAN SHAKESPEARE: Did scammers steal Daniel Craig's £30K gift to Hillary Clinton's rival?

Hillary Clinton has been compared to James Bond villainess Rosa Klebb, the icy Russian agent with poison-tipped blades in her shoes. Now she has 007 on her tail.

I hear Bond actor Daniel Craig has donated almost £30,000 to Clinton’s closest Democratic rival in next year’s Presidential race, 74-year-old senator Bernie Sanders.

Craig, who was raised as a staunch Labour supporter in Liverpool, called UK politicians ‘backstabbers’ after becoming disillusioned with Tony Blair’s ‘Cool Britannia’ government.

But the Spectre star supports Sanders’s push for sexual equality — unlike his womanising alter-ego. In 2011, the macho actor dressed in drag to support International Women’s Day.

All very worthy and politically correct — except Craig may have been somewhat naive. Reports suggest the organisation he donated to may be a scam.

Craig insists he gave the cash in ‘good faith’. ‘I have been informed of no evidence to question that my donation has not been used as intended,’ he tells me. ‘Should that situation occur, I will review my position.’

Not such a gold finger.

The noisy neighbours keeping Pushy awake

It was early curtains for X Factor boss Simon Cowell this week, after his raucous summer party at Kensington Palace got a little too loud.

But despite suggestions that the music mogul and his minions were forced to curtail their bash for fear of waking Princess Charlotte, there could be another royal resident to worry about in the future.

Spare a thought for Princess Michael of Kent, who lives just a stone’s throw from The Orangery where Cowell, 55, and his guests enjoyed their champagne-fuelled revelry.

‘I wasn’t at home that night, I was staying somewhere else,’ Princess Michael, 70, tells me.

‘But they can be terribly loud at The Orangery, can’t they?’

How cruel a modern corporate downfall can be. Dawn Airey, who left (or lost) her job as vice-president of Yahoo’s Europe, the Middle East and Africa operations on Thursday, was only on Monday to be seen at the best table at London’s swanky Ivy restaurant, holding court with a quartet of almost ostentatiously rapt minions.

From time to time Airey would be interrupted by another Ivy medialand customer paying their salaams: cue air kisses and elaborate compliments. Now Airey is out on her ear. That’s showbusiness!
