Helen Mirren trades her Eye In The Sky army uniform for a glamorous floral gown as she premieres drone warfare film at Toronto Film Festival

She rarely puts a foot wrong in the style stakes, and her recent red carpet appearance was certainly no exception.

Dame Helen Mirren continued to flaunt her sartorial prowess as she stunned in a glamorous gown at the premiere of Eye In The Sky at the Toronto International Film Festival on Friday evening.

It was a far cry from the top-to-toe camouflage army uniform the 70-year-old British actress was seen sporting when she turned military officer for the new drone warfare film.

Make an entrance in a black floral gown like Helen

Oh, to be Dame Helen Mirren. An Oscar under her belt, still beautiful at 70 and all access to the Italian brand Dolce & Gabbana whenever a premiere beckons.

At the Toronto International Film Festival on Friday, Helen promoted her film Eye in the Sky in a floor-length black gown with a white floral motif. This is a one-off for the actress and the latest in a series of Dolce & Gabbana dresses she's worn lately. We love the demure cut of this dress juxtaposed with the sheer long sleeves. Just perfect!

Sadly, because this dress was made for Helen, we mere mortals will never get our hands on one.

But cheer up. We found some pretty good lookalikes below that won't break the bank. Check out the Kensie sheer overlay maxi dress at Off 5th for only 19.99!

Helen was a vision in a black, floral Dolce and Gabbana gown, which effortlessly flattered her hourglass figure.

Stepping out in Canada for the annual film festival, the London native was the picture of perfection in the designer gown, which cinched in at the waist to highlight her trim shape.

Dame Helen - who received her Damehood in 2003 for Services To The Performing Arts - styled her outfit with a gold box clutch and a delicate silver necklace.

The Academy Award-winning star added a pop of colour to her look with an inspired, dark magenta lip.

Camo-clad: Her glamorous red carpet appearance is a far cry from her role in new warfare thriller Eye In The Sky, in which she stars as Colonel Katherine Powell

In the film - also starring Breaking Bad's Aaron Paul, Harry Potter's Alan Rickman and Captain Phillips' Barkhad Abdi - Dame Helen plays Colonel Katherine Powell.

Her character locates a dissident she's been tracking for years in a Nairobi shantytown, but it's close to innocent civilians going about their day.

Seen in full camouflage uniform in an army office, Col. Katherine faces a moral dilemma as to whether she should order the strikes, targeting terrorists but considering the cost of collateral damage.

Speaking to Jane Stevenson from the Toronto Sun at the TIFF, the former M&S model explained why she doesn't find the growing use of drones in modern warfare alarming.

She said: 'No I didn’t find the use of them shocking. My parents had doodle bugs dropping bombs on their heads so that sort of technology – remote – has actually been going on for a long, long time.

'Technology is moving forward and all we can do is accept it.'

Dame Helen is also set to hit the red carpet in Toronto on Saturday night for the premiere of her next film, Trumbo.
