Ready for a thrill? Patrick Schwarzenegger joins the star-studded cast of Scream Queens

He's been building up his silver screen credentials.

But now Patrick Schwarzenegger is taking his acting talents to the small screen.

'Happy to announce that PATRICK SCHWARZENEGGER has joined the cast of SCREAM QUEENS,' the show's creator Ryan Murphy tweeted on Friday.

Along with the Twitter post was a black-and-white headshot of the son of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver.

Patrick of course retweeted the big news to his 159K followers.

FOX's Scream Queens features a star-studded cast with the likes of Emma Roberts, Lea Michele, Jamie Lee Curtis, Ariana Grande, Nick Jonas, Keke Palmer, Diego Boneta, and more.

The first series will focus on a series of murders involving the Kappa Kappa Tau sorority.

Ryan Murphy co-created the show with Brad Falchuk. The two are also responsible for Glee and American Horror Story.

While this is Patrick's first big TV gig, he has been seen in feature films, including 2006's The Benchwarmers, 2012's Stuck in Love, and 2013's Grown Ups 2.

This year, the star will also be spotted in Prettyface and Scouts Guide to the Zombi Apocalypse.

2016 sees the budding star in Dear Eleanor, Midnight Sun, and North, which he is currently filming.

The independent movie is being directed by Matthew Ogens, who co-wrote the script with Kyle Lierman and being filmed in Detroit, Michigan.

North is set in the near-future, following an unknown cataclysmic event.

The young characters at the centre of the story must set out into an unknown world in order to find family and a hope for the future.

Patrick has previously worked as a model while studying at the University of Southern California.

He is also an entrepreneur who owns Blaze Pizza in Los Angeles.

Patrick gained celebrity status while dating singer Miley Cyrus for several months in early 2015.
