Carla Bruni as you've NEVER seen her before! France's glamorous former First Lady becomes a football coach for new campaign

  • Carla Bruni, 47, has ditched the high-octane glamour for her latest role
  • Stars in humorous short film to kick off a new Ford marketing campaign
  • Former model-turned-chanteuse is also the current face of Bulgari

She's a mainstay on glossy magazine covers and is even the face of Bulgari jewellery but France's former First Lady, Carla Bruni, has ditched the high-octane glamour for her latest role.

The Italian-French author, singer, song-writer and model plays a football coach in a new campaign film, which sees her pitched into a world of men’s locker rooms and football fields instead of the concert halls and catwalks that she's more accustomed to.

Carla, 47, stars in the humorous short film to kick off a new Ford marketing campaign challenging French consumers to take a new turn in life.

Dressed in a blue suit with her hair tied back, Bruni shows off a fiercer side as she stands pitchside at a football match and shouts orders at her team.

She can also be seen mentoring the players in the changing room and even embracing them when her team scores a goal.

Directed by screenwriter, producer and humourist Dominique Farrugia for Ford France, the film launches the brand's new #prendreunvirage campaign.

The new campaign is designed to inspire those who want to pursue new aspirations, such as leaving city life to start a small business in the country.

'Ford has big aspirations in France and we are reaching out to French consumers in an authentic way', said a spokesperson.

'It starts with the insight that many people in France are open to taking a new turn in life – and we want to be part of this change.

'Carla Bruni immediately understood what we were trying to achieve and partnering with her will ensure that millions of people notice this campaign.'

Carla, a former-model-turned chanteuse, is also the current face of Bulgari and has appeared in several high glamour campaigns for the jewellery brand.

Despite her modelling commitments, most of Bruni's energy is currently being directed at her singing career and a world tour that stopped off in Vienna, Berlin, Aix-en-Provence, New York, Quebec and Los Angeles.

She has also been spending more time with her daughter Giulia, three, who was born while her husband Nicholas Sarkozy was still president of France.
