'Starting TODAY!' Gayle King pledges to join Weight Watchers as she reveals she now weighs 185lbs

It's rare for a celebrity to reveal his/her weight.

But Gayle King is surprisingly open about such matters, taking to Instagram on Saturday to share her shock at realising she now weighs 184.5 pounds.

'Oh Nooooo just weighed in. Thought I was 5 lbs less and felt bad about THAT,' the 60-year-old BFF of Oprah Winfrey wrote to her 110K followers.

'Was planning to start @weightwatchers Monday after a last supper weekend .. Now starting TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!' the 5ft10 co-anchor of CBS This Morning added.

Along with the tweet was a picture of her standing, showing off her light turquoise-painted toes, on a scale that read 184.5lbs.

This certainly isn't the first time Gayle has talked about her weight.

In February, the Editor-at-Large of O, The Oprah Magazine posted a snap to Instagram of some food she had delivered to start a new nutrition program.

She captioned the shot: 'Fatter than I have ever been! Help has just arrived in the form of @Beyoncé 22 day vegan diet.'

Gayle's weight gain could have stemmed from her having to stay off her feet following an accident in Maui, Hawaii over New Year's.

She suffered a serious ankle sprain while headed to the gym and spent part of New Year's Eve at a hospital in Hawaii with Oprah while being treated.

Oprah invited Gayle and her family to ring in the New Year at her Maui ranch but ended staying at the hospital for most of the celebration. 

Gayle had just celebrated her milestone 60th birthday days earlier on December 28 alongside her family at Oprah's Maui ranch.

Oprah and her pal have shared a long-lasting friendship since 1976, with Gayle making numerous appearances on Oprah's beloved daytime talk show during it's Emmy-winning run.
