Wildlife photographers Andy and Sarah Skinner waited three days for the perfect moment at the Moremi Game Reserve in Botswana. They had been tracking a group of three lions and found them resting in the shade, before one male started to rise not long before sunset. Mr Skinner said he was delighted to capture 'the intricate detail and textures of the lion's mouth and of course his impressive canines'. The couple, who have been married for 13 years, are used to staking out animals and host safari tours for members of the public.

Lorna Davies (bottom right) has selflessly donated $20,000 to save Trudi the orphaned rhino and bring her safely to Australia. Trudi (pictured) was found weighing just 32kg after her mother was shot dead and her horn removed by poachers in Kruger Park, South Africa. Ms Davies, who grew up in South Africa but moved to Australia in her 20s, has vowed to saver Trudi as part of the Australian Rhino Project which aims to create a breeding heard at Taronga Zoo in Sydney.
