Not long now! Bindi Irwin squeezes in some final rehearsals with partner Derek Hough ahead of Dancing With The Stars debut

They've been hard at work in the rehearsal studio head of their Dancing With The Stars debut.

And Bindi Irwin and Derek Hough were back at it on Saturday, squeezing in some extra practice before taking to the stage on Monday.

The 17-year-old seemed in high spirits after her session, waving at fans as she left the studio.

Wearing her brunette locks in a loose ponytail, the teenager shunned make-up for her no doubt gruelling workout.

Ever the animal lover, the youngster sported a black t-shirt with an elephant graphic on it and some black leggings.

While her dance moves are no doubt improving, it seems Bindi is still not quite used to her new collection of stilettos, carrying a pair of beige heels in one hand as headed towards a car.

The teenager previously admitted to struggling the first time she was asked to wear high heels by producers, having stuck religiously to flats in the past.

'They said, "We’re going to put you in these heels," and I don’t think they realised that I had never worn heels before so I stood up and instantly fell down,' she told Entertainment Tonight, adding: 'It’s kind of nice to step outside of my comfort zone and try some sparkles on.'

Earlier this week Bindi took to Instagram to gush over partner Derek Hough, writing: 'This journey....I don't know if I've ever laughed so much in my entire life as I have in the studio with @derekhough.'

Fast friends: Bindi and her partner Derek Hough hit it off straight away, with the youngster saying she had never laughed as much as with the professional dancer

She accompanied the message with a promotional photograph of the pair, with Bindi appearing in a sequinned minidress.

It comes after the teenager paid an emotional tribute to her late father on Fathers Day in Australia.

Uploading a photograph of the conservationist, she wrote: 'Thinking about home today. Father's Day is today in Australia and everyone is celebrating at Australia Zoo.

'It's such a special time of year, I hope everyone who comes to the zoo today is able to enjoy it with our gorgeous animals.

'No matter where I am in the world, this day means such a lot to me. My heart forever lives at Australia Zoo - just like Dad's always did.'
