Saving the best for last! Elizabeth Banks stuns in showstopping plunging red gown as she pulls out all the stops for final night of Venice Film Festival

She has stunned in a string of exquisite gowns throughout the prestigious European movie event.

But Elizabeth Banks certainly saved the best for last as she put on a showstopping display at final day of the 72nd Venice Film Festival in Italy on Saturday.

The 41-year-old Hollywood star wore a dramatic red gown which flaunted a hint of toned leg and sexy cleavage at the festival, where she is a member of the prize-giving jury.

Elizabeth wore the exquisite dress, which appeared to be made of taffeta and boasted a unique halterneck with a choker draped across her throat.

The gown bunched in on the actress' tiny waist and split down to the ground to show off her slim legs.

She carried a structured black clutch bag with a gold-cage overlay and pearl studs on top, which complemented her strappy, sky-high heels.

Turn heads in an orange maxi like Elizabeth

At the closing ceremony of the 72 Venice Film Festival on Saturday, Elizabeth Banks chose a beautiful cherry red dress featuring a plunging halter, choker collar and a thigh-high slit exposing her impossibly long legs.

This dress was the finale piece in Emilia Wickstead's Fall 2015 runway show and we, at Fashion Finder, couldn't think of a more fitting ode to the end of the to the Italian film festival. Wickstead is a New Zealand-born, London-based designer favored by the Duchess of Cambridge and Alexa Chung, to name a few, and is also getting some clout among the Hollywood crowd.

This is one dress that made it from the runway to the red carpet to retail. If you have to have Elizabeth's exact dress, you're in luck! It's currently on sale for $5,412 at MatchesFashion.

If throwing around five grand is not your idea of fun (we get it), we suggest checking out some other options below. We love the ASOS side cutout maxi dress for $76 and can really see ourselves in the Rachel Zoe fille maxi dress, $256, at Revolve.

Elizabeth wore her blonde locks in a chic quiff with a chignon tied at the back.

Her red lipstick perfectly matched her gown, while she wore a slick of liquid eyeliner to give the ensemble a retro feel.

The stunning star kept her accessories simple with just a pair of pearl stud earrings which matched the pearl detail on her clutch.

As the festival, which kicked off last week, has progressed, Elizabeth has sported a series of exquisite gowns, however, Saturday night's number is by far the most dramatic.

Her other looks have included two heavily embroidered floral gowns.

Once inside, Elizabeth sat on stage while dishing out awards to various stars of the movie industry.

The stunning star presented 14-year-old actor Abraham Attah with the Marcello Mastroianni Award to a Young Actor for his role in Beasts Of No Nations.

Another star to grace the red carpet alongside Elizabeth was fellow actress Diane Kruger.

Elizabeth and Diane are on the prize jury for the festival this year and will review such films as Everest and The Danish Girl.

Diane epitomised gothic glam in her polo-neck lace gown, which featured a black mesh overlay atop a nude bustier before sweeping into a dramatic full bodied skirt.

Other movie hotshots who attended the ceremony and sat alongside the women on the judging panel included Taiwanese director Hou Hsiao-Hsien, Polish director Pawel Pawlikowski and Turkish director Nuri Bilge Ceylan.

They were joined by British director Lynne Ramsay, Italian director Francesco Munzi, French novelist Emmanuel Carrere and president of the jury Alfonso Cuaron.
