Red carpet favorite Cushnie Et Ochs pairs pretty pastels with cool cut-outs at New York Fashion Week

  • Several stars from the hit series Empire attended the show, including Grace Gealy and Kaitlin Doubleday
  • British Revenge actress Ashley Madekwe also sat in the front row, as did TV presenter La La Anthony
  • Celebrity fans of the brand also include Ivanka Trump, Rosie Hungtington-Whiteley and Megan Fox

Celebrity favorite Cushnie Et Ochs filled the catwalk with a collection of pared-back pastel colors, and cute cut-out designs during its New York Fashion Week show on Friday.

Designers Carly Cushnie and Michelle Ochs focused on a pretty palette of pale purple, mint and peach for Spring 2016, with models also showcasing a collection of cool hair wraps and bold black sunglasses.

Bringing a darker edge to contrast the pale pastel tones, the designers also debuted a collection of black leather dresses, and high-waisted white bikinis, all of which were paired with simple strappy stilettos.

Also off-setting the pale pastel colors was the models' dark make-up; each girl wore a deep berry-toned matte lip, while their eyes were rimmed in dark kohl.

The look was finished off with bold brows and a deep blood-red manicure by Christian Louboutin nail artist Alicia Torello.

Shortly before the show, designers Carly and Michelle told the Hollywood Reporter that their dream clients would be Sharon Stone and Michelle Pfeiffer, with Michelle explaining that the latter actress has 'always been our style muse from Scarface'.

Speaking about their inspiration for the Spring 2016 collection, Carly explained: 'We started looking at Kehinde Wiley’s work — the portrait artist — and from there the theme became uptown gangster.

'We wanted to mix 90’s hip hop references with a sort of uptown lady,' said Cushnie. 'Pastels but a lot of overall references and the bandanas were made out of duchess satin to elevate it a bit.'

Perched on the front row at the show were Empire actresses Grace Gealey and Kaitlin Doubleday, both wearing Cushnie Et Ochs, alongside Revenge actress Ashley Madekwe, who was also wearing an ensemble styled by the fashion house.
