And Mindy Kaling proved her sartorial worth once again as she headed to the Creative Arts Emmy Awards before promoting Season Four premiere of Hulu's The Mindy Project in West Hollywood, California on Saturday.

Turning heads as she posed for pictures at the star-studded bash, the 36-year-old star oozed heaps of elegance in a glamorous thigh-slash red gown.

The sizzling ensemble, designed by Salvador Perez, boasted a dramatic cape and one-shoulder detail with a flowing trial.

Her luscious dark locks were styled to the side, while her pretty complexion was highlighted with winged eyeliner, red lippy and blush-tinted cheeks.

Moments later, Mindy slipped into a short black dress - which boasted delicate, jewelled accents - as she headed to promote her latest TV series.

Keeping her accessorises to a minimum, she teamed the sexy number with a classy set of Chanel patent heels, a Jimmy Choo clutch and encrusted drop-down earrings.

She tweeted: ‘Came back from #TheMindyProject premiere party to pack for my press tour, very tipsy! 3 days until this can be yours!’

Meanwhile, the American star is currently co-authoring a book of essays with her former Office co-star and partner B.J. Novak.

Despite their dating history, the two have famously remained good friends.

'I don’t know if I would have written this book with him five years ago,' she told Yahoo Style of working with B.J. 'But no, it’s not weird at all. We fight all the time.'

'I’m hoping that the creative process will be lively but good,’ the TV star added.

In her new book, which debuts on Tuesday, Mindy chronicles her rise to fame, detailing all manner of awkward and embarrassing experiences she suffered during the first few years of her career.
