Still going strong! Michael Caine's wife of 42 years Shakira steals the show in elegant blue dress at the premiere of his new film Youth at the Toronto Film Festival

He's the star of the movie, but it was his leading lady that stole the show.

Michael Caine and his wife of 42 years Shakira looked as happy as ever as they attended the premiere of his new film Youth at the Toronto Film Festival at The Elgin, on Saturday.

Shakira, 68, looked effortlessly stunning in a royal blue figure hugging dress, with contrasting black shoulders and three quarter length sleeves.

The former model complemented her look perfectly with a pair of black patent heels, and a glittery black handbag.

She wore a minimal amount of make-up, with some smokey eye shadow and red lipstick. 

82-year-old Michael looked smart too, in a navy suit offset by a light blue shirt. He wore his trademark glasses, one of his most distinguishing features, along with his thick cockney accent.

The film sees two old friends, Fred (Michael Caine) and Mick (Harvey Keitel) go on holiday together.

Fred, a retired orchestra conductor, has no intention of ever going back to work, until he receives an invitation from the Queen to perform at Prince Philip's birthday.

Caine also stars alongside Jane Fonda, Rachel Weisz and Paul Dano.

The British film icon married actress Shakira in January 1973, after he saw her in a Maxwell House coffee advert.

The couple have one daughter together, Natasha, 42. 

The Italian Job star also has another daughter, Dominique, who he had with his previous wife, actress Patricia Haines. 

Michael Caine recently revealed to the Daily Mail's Baz Bamigboye how he and Shakira, cracked the code for an enduring marriage in Hollywood.

'In this business, you're surrounded by beautiful women - but I've got one at home,' he said. 'I've got one of the most beautiful ones I've ever seen, so I've never been tempted to stray.'
