It's Princess GRAN! Mia Tindall frolics with grandmother Anne as the royals relax at the Gatcombe Horse Trials

  • Princess Anne looked relaxed as she doted on 20-month-old Mia
  • The pair were watching Zara Phillips compete at the event, which was also attended by Mike Tindall

It was a typically royal affair on the second day of the Gatcombe Horse Trials.

Princess Anne looked relaxed as she doted on granddaughter Mia Tindall at the event, where daughter Zara Phillips was competing.

But the 20-month-old appeared to be more interested in a dog than the equestrian pursuits of her mother.

Father Mike Tindall, 36, was also at the Whatley Manor Trials held at Gatcombe Park, the country residence of the Princess Royal in Gloucestershire.

But Little Mia, who turned one in January, seemed to savour the company of her grandmother as she tottered about.

At one point, she clung tightly to the Princess Anne's leg in a clear sign of affection.

The Princess Royal was dressed down for the occasion in a flat cap, checked shirt and a gillet, while son-in-law Mike wore a t-shirt and tracksuit bottoms.

Meanwhile, baby Mia looked adorable in a printed jumper, jeans and boots.

It has been a busy weekend for the Princess Royal, who spent time with her other grandchildren Savannah and Isla Phillips yesterday.

Peter Phillips and his wife Autumn were at the first day of the Gatcombe Horse Trials yesterday with their two daughters.

The family looked relaxed as they wandered around the stands set up around the park, before watching Zara compete.

The three-day autumn event is being held on the 730-acre estate, where the Tindalls also happen to live.

Earlier this month, Mike revealed that his 34-year-old wife has her eyes set on competing in the Rio Olympics next year with her horse High Kingdom.

Zara Phillips won a silver medal at the London 2012 Olympics, which was presented to her by her mother.

The three-day Autumn Whatley Manor Hotel event at Gatcombe attracts competitors from across the globe and includes dressage, show jumping and cross country.
