Pat Nevin has blasted the 'unorganised' Scottish FA after Gordon Strachan's players were left to eat at Burger King following their disappointing Euro 2016 qualifying defeat in Georgia.

Not only did the team lose 1-0 in Tbilisi on Friday night, but their plane home was delayed afterwards, leaving the players to kill time at the airport before heading back to Scotland.

BBC pundit Nevin, who made 28 appearances for Scotland between 1986 and 1996, was disappointed with the Scottish FA's lack of preparation and planning for the trip, and insisted someone should have been there to stick up for the players.

WHAT COULD THEY HAVE EATEN?

Burger King menus differ around the world, but what could the Scotland players have eaten during their visit in Georgia...?

Speaking to The Scottish Sun, he said: 'I actually mentioned it on the way out to one of the Scotland officials. I told him there were 18 half-decent seats on the plane and the players should get them because they'd have decent leg room. That wasn't done.

'But the thing that annoyed me the most was that after the game, the squad had several hours milling about in the airport. The players were left mingling with the fans and with journalists.

'There was one piece of good organization. The players lined up very well in front of Burger King, which was where they ate. That’s what they had — burger and chips after the game. This is absolutely not a criticism of the players.'

Despite his unhappiness at the players' food choice after the game, Nevin made a point of stating that it wasn't their fault as Burger King was the only available choice while they waited.

He continued: 'They have to refuel after a game and the burger joints were the only options. Where were the sports scientists who should have been checking everything? I was really disappointed with the organisation.

'The players can't say a word about it because they lost the game in Georgia. So it's up to someone else to stand up for them and make the point on their behalf.'

Scotland went on to lose 3-2 to Germany at Hampden Park in their following match, leaving them struggling to qualify for next summer's tournament in France.

Strachan's side are now fourth in the group, behind Germany, Poland and the Republic of Ireland, an impossible distance from automatic qualification unless Poland lose both their games, Scotland win theirs and manage to overturn an 18-goal deficit.

They can still make it to next summer's tournament, but rely on finishing third in Group D and coming through a play-off round.
