Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke 'can't stand' sex scenes
As the star of the ‘sex and dragons’ drama Game Of Thrones, Emilia Clarke has disrobed in the name of her art numerous times, but she has now called for fewer explicit scenes on TV.
‘Sex scenes should be more subtle,’ the 28-year-old tells me at a party in Mayfair.
‘I’m British, so I cringe at that sort of thing anyway — I can’t stand it.’
No more nudes: Emilia Clarke has not done any topless scenes for Game of Thrones for the past two years
The businesswoman’s daughter from Berkshire — who has been seen on the show rising naked from a fire and breastfeeding dragons, adds: ‘I don’t want to have sex thrown in my face and I’ve always thought the suggestion is so much more titillating than the act itself.’
Emilia, who plays the exiled princess Daenerys Targaryen, refused to appear in any more topless shots in the drama two years ago, according to her co-star Oona Chaplin, who disclosed that Emilia had told programme bosses she ‘wanted to be known for my acting, not my breasts’.
Emila adds: ‘Most sex scenes you see in films or on TV are gratuitous and they’re usually just to attract an audience.
‘On screen, the subtler the better.’ Nothing like Game Of Thrones then!
Has she seen Game of Thrones? Emilia says she finds most sex scenes on screen gratuitous and that 'the subtler the better'

But veteran supermodel Yasmin Le Bon says she gives Cara’s claims of exploitation short shrift.
‘I’m very sorry Cara feels that way, but I doubt whether she really was [exploited],’ Yasmin claims of the 23-year-old model, who is the daughter of property developer Charles Delevingne and godchild of Dame Joan Collins.
Claws out: Yasmin Le Bon says she does not believe that Cara Delevingne, left, has been 'exploited'
‘She always had a choice; no one holds a gun to your head.

‘And she came from a good family, so it’s not like she had to do demeaning jobs just for the money.’
Speaking at the launch of the Jasmine for Jaeger fashion range, Yasmin, adds: ‘Exploited — what does that really mean? We all do it in some form.

In a move that would shock her on-screen alter ego, Downton Abbey’s head housekeeper Mrs Hughes, Phyllis Logan confesses a ‘theft’ from the set after filming the final series.
‘Everyone’s been taking souvenirs, so I took Mrs Hughes’s old corset thinking “no one’s going to want that”,’ the 59-year-old actress tells me.
‘Then I tried it on, away from the set . . . Oh dear, not such a good idea. Not really a good look at all.’

MPs often attack bankers’ bonuses, but they’re happy to reward their own loyal staff with taxpayers’ money.
Thirty-three MPs gave £28,356 in ‘reward and recognition’ payments this year — compared to £19,762 paid by 28 MPs last year.
These are ‘modest’ bonuses for ‘projects completed well’, says watchdog Ipsa, but some are less modest than others. Tory MP Peter Aldous gave one lucky employee £5,000.
