Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn (centre) today boasted that he had assembled a 'unifying' frontbench team from the wreckage of the shadow cabinet walkout triggered by his extraordinary leadership victory. As he plotted how to take Labour dramatically to the left, he claimed the 'dynamic, inclusive' team would for the 'first time ever' have a majority of women. But he faced immediate criticism for handing all the roles shadowing the great offices of state to men - including IRA sympathiser John McDonnell and defeated leadership contender Andy Burnham. But Mr Corbyn championed (left to right) new shadow health secretary Heidi Alexander, shadow minister for young people and voter registration Gloria de Piero, shadow mental health minister Luciana Berger and shadow international development secretary Diane Abbott.
'The overthrow of capitalism': Corbyn's new shadow chancellor unveils economic plan - seizing control of banks and energy firms (and a 7% tax hike for anyone on £50,000)
John McDonnell wants to nationalise all the banks, railways and utility companies, hike taxes on companies and increase national insurance by 7 per cent on anyone earning over £50,000. The veteran west London MP this morning dismissed widespread criticism over this appointment and promised to make people more 'prosperous'. But the former Labour home secretary Charles Clarke told the BBC that Mr Corbyn's choice showed he wanted to 'go down the most hardline position there was'. During Mr Corbyn's election campaign, Mr McDonnell - acting as his campaign chief - set out a £10bn plan to scrap all tuition fees and restore student maintenance.

Xanthia Morrison (main picture) was due to return to Glasgow on a Jet2 flight (inset) after spending a week in Crete for her friend's wedding. But the airline banned her and a friend from the return journey amid claims she had become 'aggressive' when warned not to drink her own alcohol on the outbound flight. The 34-year-old had to buy an alternative flight home and was left £400 out of pocket. She has now accused the airline of making false allegations and using heavy-handed tactics. She has passed a recording of the incident to MailOnline in which the pair were assured it had been a misunderstanding and they would be able to fly home. Europe shuts up shop: Hungary blocks main crossing point from Serbia used by migrants as Austria, Slovakia and Netherlands ALL follow Germany's lead to impose border controls
Police were seen closing off a gap in the razor-wire barrier along the Hungary-Serbia border as other officers former a human shield to block off the railway tracks. The move comes after it emerged that Hungary was bracing itself for a massive surge of up to 30,000 migrants in just one day as Serbia attempts a huge 'push through' before its neighbour introduces tough new border rules. A record 5,809 migrants entered Hungary in a new surge on Sunday, smashing the previous day's record of 4,330, Hungarian police have revealed. The sharp increase came ahead of laws coming into force tomorrow under which people entering the EU country illegally can be jailed.Pictured: A map showing the migrant routes across Europe (top left) and a tearful refugee holding a child by the side of railway tracks at the Hungary-Serbia border today (main image).
