A 14-year-old girl has been reported missing with a 23-month-old toddler after taking him for a walk, police have revealed.

Kelly Metcalfe, 14, of Tyersal, Bradford, visited Peter Boocock's family on Wednesday afternoon and the boy's mother agreed that Kelly could take him for a walk.

The boy's mother contacted police when they did not return and police are growing "increasingly concerned" for their safety.

West Yorkshire Police said Kelly visited the child at his family home in the Pollard Park area of Bradford and was allowed to take him for a walk in his pushchair at around 4.15pm.

Two and a half hours later, the young boy's mother called police to report them missing at 6.45pm.

Chief Inspector Jason Galvin, of Bradford South Police, said: "We are becoming increasingly concerned. Extensive police inquiries are ongoing to trace Kelly and Peter and I am appealing to anyone who thinks they may have seen them to contact us immediately.

"Specially trained officers are helping their families, who, as you can imagine are very worried."

Police visit Kelly's friends

A force spokeswoman said extensive police inquiries were ongoing and officers were visiting Kelly's friends and family to see if they have seen or heard from her.

She said: "Officers are currently searching the area, conducting house to house inquiries to see if anyone has seen two people fitting Kelly's and Peter's description and we are looking through CCTV footage."

She said Kelly was wearing a light blue zip-up tracksuit top, blue jeans, a khaki bodywarmer and a blue New York Yankees baseball cap. She also wears a St Christopher's ring.

She is described as white, 5ft 5in, slim, with shoulder-length, straight brown hair and blue eyes.

Peter was wearing a red short-sleeved Teletubbies T-shirt, dark jogging bottoms, a blue and green anorak and dark blue trainers. He has a clear stone stud in his left ear and has two dummies on a chain.

Police said he has short blond hair, blue eyes, with a medium build and was in a dark and light blue Maclaren pushchair.

Anyone with information was urged to contact Bradford Central Police Station on 01274 376410 immediately.
