A source told the publication: 'Up until now, Terri and Bindi have had several scripts pitched to them. Even the BBC want to do an authorised documentary style biopic on Steve, and (the Irwins) have turned everything down.'
Terri's reported move comes shortly before the ten year anniversary of Irwin's untimely death.
The 44-year-old lost his life when a stingray pierced his heart while he was filming documentary series Ocean's Deadliest in shallow waters off the coast of Queensland's Port Douglas on September 4 2006.
Done deal: Terri and daughter Bindi have reportedly agreed a deal after previously rejecting numerous proposed film projects, according to sources
Terri and Bindi are now looking ahead to the film's casting, and both are believed to have a special interest in who will play the wildlife expert.
'Bindi really wants Hugh Jackman to play Steve,' the source added. 'She thinks High is just like her dad in many ways - loved, dependable and internationally renowned.
'Both Bindi and Terri want this to be a serious film with a serious cast.'

Bindi has already made forays on the small screen with shows including Bindi the Jungle Girl, Bindi's bootcamp and a forthcoming appearance on long-running talent show Dancing With The Stars.
Daily Mail Australia have contacted Terri's representatives for further comment.
