Zafar Ansari place in first Test tour with England in jeopardy after suffering thumb injury that could rule him out of the series

Zafar Ansari's inclusion on his first Test tour with England was plunged into jeopardy just hours after his call-up when he suffered a thumb injury that could rule him out of the series against Pakistan. The Surrey all-rounder's dream England selection threatened to turn into a nightmare when he was forced to leave the championship game against Lancashire after being struck on the left thumb trying to catch Ashwell Prince. Ansari looked in distress as he headed to a Manchester hospital to see a hand specialist and was last night anxiously awaiting for the results of an x-ray that could rule him out of a tour that begins in little more than a fortnight.
