He quit international football after a number of fall-outs with France manager Didier Deschamps but it appears Samir Nasri can still see the funny side.

The 28-year-old was left furious after he was omitted from France's World Cup squad last summer and he eventually announced his retirement following the tournament.

Manchester City midfielder Nasri then referred to the national coach as a 'joker' and a 'hypocrite' in an interview with L'Equipe earlier this year - one of many exchanges between the pair.

However, the former Arsenal star has taken to Instagram to post a tongue-in-cheek caption alongside a picture of the pair.

The photo, which included a young Nasri and four other youngsters, was captioned: '#tbt 20 years ago before the storm.'

Following Nasri's criticism of him, the national manager then hit back at the midfielder by claiming he refused to talk with him.

'People need to know that, in the autumn of 2012, I decided to call him to discuss stuff with him,' he told RMC Sport. 'He refused to listen. He did not want to discuss anything.

'If a person who is an example of sincerity and frankness told me something, I'd consider it, but Nasri is not that type of person.'

But it appears it wasn't just Nasri who was left angered following his omission from the World Cup squad.

After finding out he wouldn’t be on the plane to Brazil, Nasri's girlfriend Anara Atanes tweeted: ‘F*** France and f*** Deschamps! What a s*** manager.’

She followed it up with another tweet saying: ‘Incase [sic] u didn't read my tweet properly.... Ill repeat myself..... f*** france and f*** deschamps!'
