This touching video shows the rescue of a sick and scared terrier who had been living in a parking lot for seven months. Eldad Hagar, the founder of Hope for Paws in Los Angeles, set out to rescue the homeless dog after receiving a call from someone who noticed it had been living outside a medical clinic. He and Lisa Chiarelli set out to find the stray, who was taking shelter from the scorching California sun under a car, and eventually managed coaxed him out into the open. Although initially terrified, the dog, which they named Aaron, eventually trusted his rescuers and was taken to get some food and medical care.

Nirit Resnick Varenbut (pictured left with her ex-husband and centre, leaving East Hampton Town Justice Court last week) of New York, was accused of telling her former husband Josh Resnick that she wanted to make 'wallpaper' out his new wife - food writer Danyelle Freeman, 41 (pictured right with Resnick). According to court documents, Varenbut, 39, who was married to Resnick for a decade, wrote a post on his second wife's Facebook page, telling him: 'I want you to hurt, hurt, hurt.' She added: 'I want to be the one who skins her alive. I can make wallpaper out of her.' East Hampton Town Justic Lisa Rana sentenced Varenbut to three years' probation last week after she pleaded guilty to misdemeanor criminal contempt. Sources said that Varenbut had rented a house in the Hamptons over the summer in order to spy on the couple, who have a home in East Hampton.

Nature photographer Kerstin Langenberger, who is based in Germany, posted the image of the 'horribly thin' injured bear on Facebook last month, and it has now been shared more than 41,000 times. The photo was taken in Norway's Svalbard region, a group of islands in the Arctic Ocean where tourists often go to see polar bears in their natural habitat. She claims the picture is also evidence of the retreating sea ice, which she thinks is affected by global warming. Females are particularly affected as they tend to stay on the pack ice with their young and have an increasing struggle to find food, she wrote.

Army Specialist Henry Alvarado's life was turned upside down when his pooch was struck by a car on the day he was moving from his home in Los Angeles to Alaska. The dog named Dukey suffered injuries to his leg in the accident, and much to Alvarado's dismay, was unable to fly and had to be left behind. Captured on camera is the moment Alvarado and Dukey are reunited following the dog's successful surgery.

Josh Murfield from Washington believes in a photo showing a couple kissing at the top of cascading Silver Falls in Mount Rainier National Park, he captured their marriage proposal. However, before he could hike to the area where they were on the park's east side to let them know he snapped the magical moment, the couple was gone. Murfield said he took the photo on Sunday between 1.30 and 2.30pm and has very few clues about the couple's identity.

A Google Loon balloon crash landed into a palm tree in the quiet Los Angeles suburb of Chino Hills on Saturday. The mystery aircraft was found stuck in a palm tree in Janet Olaffson's front yard in Chino Hills, California Saturday morning and quickly became a focal point of the neighborhood. Olaffson says she didn't see the balloon crash in her front yard, and didn't even know it was there until sheriff's deputies came knocking on her door. Google is currently testing the balloons as a way to provide affordable internet around the world. When launched a Loon balloon can offer 3G internet to a space about twice the size of New York City. Mike Jacobs of Pennsylvania posted a video of his daughter trying to outrun her shadow on Facebook. The toddler looks terrified when she catches sight of her shadow. The video has gone viral and attracted more than 25 million views and over 855,000 shares.

In a series of hilarious photographs entitled 'The Other Side', a Spanish photographer has captured Stormtroopers (pictured) unwinding after a long day of battling Jedis. It shows the Star Wars characters doing everyday things such as shopping in the supermarket (left), soaking in the bath tub (top right) - and even crowding around urinals (bottom right). 'I think the Stormtroopers represent the galactic working class,' said photographer Jorge Perez Higuera, who started 'The Other Side' series in 2012. He hopes the quirky images of the fictional characters filling up their car with petrol and painting their bedroom will help people see the fun in their daily lives.
