Kick off your Sunday shoes! Kenny Loggins plays live in superfan's living room after he raised $30,000 on Kickstarter

  • Fan Erick Sanchez crowd-sourced the rock star's $30,000 fee online
  • He started the campaign 'I want Kenny Loggins to play in my living room' a year ago
  • The campaign drew so much attention even Kenny Loggins offered to donate
  • Thanks to 237 backers, Sanchez raised enough to get the Danger Zone singer to play his living room

A Kenny Loggins fan was treated to the concert of a lifetime when the hitmaker agreed to play in his living room - thanks to a Kickstarter campaign that raised over $30,000.

The '80s radio staple, known for movie hits like Danger Zone, Footloose, and I'm Alright, traveled to Fairfax County, Virginia to play the 75-minute set in the superfan Erick Sanchez's living room.

Sanchez, who works in public relations, began crowdfunding the dream a year ago with the campaign 'I want Kenny Loggins to play in my living room.'

He ended up raising $30,723 thanks to 237 backers. The top 50 givers were also invited to the show.

Loggins played an acoustic set on Sunday with his band Blue Sky Riders, consisting of accompanying musicians Georgia Middleman and Gary Burr.

'This is the first time we've done anything like this - it felt really great,' Loggins told Fox 5.

Sanchez gave living room seats to those who contributed $300 or more. The show was also live streamed for $20 donors.

Loggins apparently even helped pay his own salary.

Once Sanchez' campaign began drawing press attention, the rock star and the superfan spoke by Skype, and Sanchez said that Loggins offered to pitch in with a donation.

In fact, it was Loggins himself who sparked the idea for Sanchez.

The fan had been perusing Loggins' website when he noticed that Loggins said he would come and play a private show for a 'set amount' to help promote their new album Why Not.

'Musically, I'm like 30 years older than I actually am,' Sanchez told Good Day DC last year. 'I like to say my dentist is my DJ.'

'This will definitely be a small piece of music history, having this be the first crowdfunded, fan-generated performance to happen in a private residence,' he told WTOP

While the campaign and music set were huge successes, Sanchez may have let slip a dirty secret - that the open duplex living room with skylights used for Loggins' performance may not have been his own.

Asked if he planned to orchestrate any more living room jams, he told Fox 5, 'I think you're going to have to ask my parents if they're okay with that.'
