'It's a terrible tragedy': Troubled woman, 29, jumps to her death from actor David Harbour's Manhattan apartment

A young woman who was staying in actor David Harbour’s Manhattan apartment fell to her death from a window last night, according to police.
The 29-year-old woman died at the scene after reportedly jumping from the Newsroom actor’s third-floor home on E. Third St in the East Village at around 5pm.
The woman, who authorities said had a history of mental health problems, will not be identified until her family have been notified.

Authorities told DailyMail.com the death is being investigated as an apparent suicide.
Harbour, who was in Toronto for the premiere of his movie Black Mass at the time, said he had been trying to ‘help her out’, according to the New York Daily News.
The 41-year-old actor did not say exactly how they met, but called her death a ‘terrible tragedy’, adding that she ‘was someone who struggled’.
He said: ‘She was in the shelter system. I was trying to help her out.
‘I'm very confused, I don't understand how this happened. She seemed to be a lovely person. It's a terrible tragedy. I'm very shaken by this.’

Sources said the actor had met the woman at a treatment center, according to the New York Post.
Harbour was nominated for a Tony Award in 2005 for his role in Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?
He is known for playing the role of Elliot Hirsch in The Newsroom since 2012, as well as films including Quantum of Solace and Revolutionary Road. He joined the cast of historical drama Manhattan last year.
He stars alongside Johnny Depp and Benedict Cumberbatch in Black Mass, which hits theaters this week.
Harbour could not immediately be reached for comment.
