'It would be completely creepy': Doctor Who star Peter Capaldi insists there won't ever be an on-screen romance between him and Jenna Coleman
They're one of the most unlikely pairings in television.
And Peter Capaldi has revealed his close on-screen bond with Jenna Coleman won't ever be anything but platonic because it would be 'creepy' for the 57-year-old to romance his 29-year-old co-star.
The Time Lord favourite, who has a teenage daughter with his TV producer wife Elaine Collins, revealed he had nothing but 'deep love' and friendship for Jenna, with whom he has starred in the BBC One sci-fi show since last year.

Close bond: Peter Capaldi's Time Lord and Jenna Coleman's Clara Oswald character will never be anything more than friends, according to the 57-year-old actor
Speaking to the new issue of Radio Times, Peter said: 'I was keen there shouldn’t be a romantic element. It would have been completely creepy.
'It’s fine if you have handsome young men like Matt [Smith] and David Tennant, but as a father, I felt it would be inappropriate.
'And it’s forged a huge bond between us. There’s no romance, but there’s deep love.'
'Deep love': Peter says he couldn't imagine a better co-star than Jenna, 29, for whom he has a huge amount of respect and admiration
The pair are set to return to our screens this Saturday for the ninth series of Doctor Who since its 2005 revival, and the Time Lord's intergalactic adventures are just as popular as ever.
Peter believes the success of the long-running series stems from the chemistry between the eccentric hero and his companion, and he feels very lucky to have been paired with Jenna.
'It has no equivalent in TV or fiction, a friendship between an alien creature and an extremely bright, clever and brave young woman', he explained.
Unlikely pairing: Peter says Jenna has helped him settle into the role as the 12th Doctor with ease

'I was so lucky it was Jenna because it might not have worked with anyone else.
'It’s tricky to come into a long-established show, especially as the lead, and Jenna has proved to be a wonderful actress and friend.'
Capaldi's fresh take on the titular hero has gone down a storm with fans and he is hoping to keep playing the Time Lord for as long as possible.
'It depends whether viewers like me, and you never know', he said when quizzed about his longevity on the show.
'We’re conscious of the fact the show will go on without any of us. Life is full of surprises, and there is a cosmic sledgehammer.'
Meanwhile, Jenna - who has been widely rumoured to be leaving next year - commented: 'You never feel you’ve arrived, which is a good thing. It would be quite scary to feel safe.
'You’re in Doctor Who knowing it will never last. It’s constantly regenerating, so you want to make your time count and enjoy the adventure for the fleeting time you’re here.'
