Mindy Kaling is pretty in pink and silver dress as she finishes up a busy weekend with a Today Show appearance

She's had a busy weekend including a late night at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday.

But Mindy Kaling was up bright and early on Monday morning for an interview on NBC's Today Show in New York.

The Mindy Project star stopped by to talk about her new book, Why Not Me? and ended up staying to co-host the 9 o'clock hour and more, according to the show's website.

The 36-year-old looked chic in a fitted pink coat dress with crystals embellishing the neckline, the pocket flaps and imitating buttons down the front. 

She teamed it with stunning silver high-heeled pumps and a black padded Chanel handbag. 

First off, the 36-year-old sat down with Savannah Guthrie to talk about why Today gets so many mentions in her book.

'I'm obsessed with you guys!' the actress-writer said. 'I think you all live in a treehouse together.'

Mindy also writes at length about one of her Today crushes — Carson Daly — but Savannah was more interested in what had happened to her other crush, Willie Geist?

'I just want to keep it interesting,' she explained. 'I don't want Willie to get too comfortable. With Carson, who knows what that's going to be after today? We'll see.' 

Savannah also asked Mindy who her ideal husband would be, and the answer was simple: 'Tall, kind and employed.'

Aside from the Creative Emmys, to which she wore a stunning one shoulder red gown, Mindy also graced the red carpet on Saturday night for the Season Four premiere of her half-hour comedy, The Mindy project, at Ysabel in West Hollywood. 

For that she wore a little black shift dress embellished with sparkling sequins.

The sitcom returns to Hulu on Tuesday the same day Why Not Me? hits bookstores.
