He's on board! Owen Wilson stars in surreal short film series as he becomes the face of P&O cruise ships

Owen Wilson has become the new face of P&O cruises.

The Hollywood star has filmed a series of quirky short films to help advertise the launch of the Australian cruise company’s newest ships, Pacific Aria and Pacific Eden.

Titled ‘The Conspicuous Awakening of Owen Wilson’, part one starts with the actor whispering, ‘Where are you taking me?’

The quirky clip continues as he wakes up to see a beautiful blonde smiling down at him which leads him to believe he’s dead.

He’s informed that he’s in the blue room, which features a ‘velvety’ sofa and ‘phenomenal’ cocktails.

The second clip, 46, is seen enjoying the benefits of the new vessels alongside Australian actress Kendal Rae, who helped to zip him into a yellow wetsuit before they lounge in a pool.

Directed by Tom Dey (Shanghai Noon), the films track the 46-year-old actor's experiences in different rooms of the ships.

As the narrative unfolds, Owen then begins to piece together his recent on-board experiences, shown through a succession of kooky and surreal flash back sequences, demonstrating that being on a P&O cruise is Like No Place On Earth.

Wilson’s performance is complimented throughout by the presence of an array of Aussie admirers, including a cocktail waitress from Tangalooma.

The third and final offering centres around the Pan-Asian inspired Dragon Lady restaurant and the The Oasis – the adults-only area of the ship.

The clips are being released on befreeowen.com.au, ahead of the launch of the new Aria and Eden ships on November 25.

P&O Cruises Head of Marketing and Distribution, Simon Cheng said, 'We’re thrilled that Owen was able to channel his inner ‘cruiseling’ and showcase some of the remarkable features these ships have to offer.'

'Hollywood, like Pacific Aria and Pacific Eden, exudes style and sophistication so it was to Hollywood we looked to help launch these ships.

'We wanted the right star - someone easy going and lots of fun, just like the experience Pacific Aria and Pacific Eden will offer. In Owen we found our perfect partner.

Owen won’t be on hand to launch the 9000-passenger cruise ships, but guests will enjoy musical offerings from the likes of The Veronicas, Jessica Mauboy, Samantha Jade and Justice Crew.

Owen currently can be seen in the drama No Escape co-starring Lake Bell and Pierce Brosnan and will also been seen in Zoolander 2 in 2016.
