She portrays the Queen of England in the hit E! drama The Royals.

And Elizabeth Hurley appointed herself the queen of selfies with in her latest on-set Instagram offering.

The 50-year-old actress looked incredible as she showed off her long lithe legs as she waited in her trailer between scenes on Tuesday.

The mum-of-one appeared to be wearing nothing but a warm coat as she posed with her pins on full display with her hair in beautifully coiffed waves and a face full of make-up.

But while she may play Her Royal Highness on the US show, it turns out life on set is not so glam as it looks on the small screen.

Alongside the snap, she wrote on Twitter: 'Me in my trailer. Staring at the ceiling and/or playing with my phone. And yes, sometimes for HOURS'

She shared the same snap on Instagram, except this time she captioned it with a little joke and some unsavoury home truths.

She wrote: 'Q: What do actors actually do in their trailers? A: Loll around.'

She added: 'In theory, learning next week's lines & catching up with admin. In reality, staring at the ceiling & playing with our phones.'

Yesterday the cast and crew were filming in the beautiful St Thomas’ Church in Winchelsea, East Sussex, and the day before that they'd been filming in a dungeon.

But despite the drastic change in scenery, Elizabeth was caked in diamonds in her daily Instagram shots.

The Royals is a drama about a fictional British Royal family set in modern day London, who inhabit a world of opulence and regal tradition that caters to any and every desire. 

However, the high life also comes with a price tag of duty, destiny and intense public scrutiny.

The first season premiered in March and season two premieres on E! in November.
