Pretty in pink: Carolina Herrera delights with colors of rose for an elegant New York Fashion Week show
- Karen Walker, Lela Rose and Tommy Hilfiger also showed at day five of New York Fashion Week
From pale blush to a bold fushia, Carolina Herrera covered the full spectrum of rose at her New York Fashion Week show Monday morning.
Held inside Manhattan's Frick Museum, models glided down the make-shift runway in sheer layers of silk, the dresses so light they appeared to float in motion.
'In fashion it is important to keep a little mystery,' Herrera explained, referring to several peek-a-boo panels of delicate tulle. 'I design clothes that are seductive and sensual, but I always leave something for the imagination. Fashion, after all, is about fantasy.'

LELA ROSE
Models walked beneath a suspended field of flowers for Lela Rose's New York Fashion Week show Monday afternoon, a literal reference to the 'infinite color variations' in the designer's spring/summer 2016 collection.
Tonal colors were stamped with metallics, floral prints decorated silk gazar; there was fluro lace, neon tweed, and a large selection of coral and citrine.
As the jewel-like gowns glided by, the end effect was mesmerizing.

KAREN WALKER
Just because you were a responsible, well-dressed Girl Scout doesn't mean you didn't have fun after hours.
That was the thinking behind New Zealand designer Karen Walker's spring/summer 2016 collection, which went from prim to party in a matter of minutes.
Silk scarves and demure skirts gave way to Eighties-inspired acid wash jeans and metallic gold --all reworked for the modern-day woman who still has a soft spot for high-waisted pants.

TOMMY HILFIGER
Tommy Hilfiger recreated the Caribbean island Mustique for New York Fashion Week show, complete with a replica of the famous Basil’s Bar inside Manhattan's Pier 36.
Gigi and Bella Hadid and Hailey Baldwin led Hilfiger's haute hippy spring/summer 2016 collection, featuring plenty of colorful crochet bikinis.
The show was heavy on mixed prints representing island life, with some embroidered satin bombers, striped lace sundresses, and slingback tennis shoes (the epitome of carefree vacation living) thrown in.
