He's playing the field already! Mad Men star Jon Hamm has a blast during friendly game of baseball following Jennifer Westfeldt split

He is getting ready to once again play the field after splitting from his long-term lover Jennifer Westfeldt.

But Jon Hamm was able to get in some practice first during a fun game of baseball in Hollywood on Monday.

The Mad Men star looked like he had already moved on from his break-up, as he was clearly having a blast with his friends as they took part in the great american pastime.

Jon, 44, wore a wide grin on his face as he was put through his sporting paces in the warm end-of-summer California sunshine.

And he looked in good health after he stepped up to the plate in a shirt, shorts, trainers and sunglasses.

The jolly actor added an extra dose of professionalism to his ensemble by also pulling a catchers mitt and baseball cap before he indulged in a spot of fielding.

However it appears the glee the actor wore on his face as he enjoyed a boys day out may merely have been a mask hiding his true feelings.

For Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner weighed in on his employee's recent split from his longtime girlfriend, describing their breakup as 'rough.'

Weiner, who made the actor a star after casting him as Madison Avenue ad man Don Draper in the highly-praised AMC series, told US Weekly it's 'a tough time' for the couple.

'I know both of them very well. They are both really gifted artists and it’s rough. But it’s also — it was a very long relationship,' he told the publication at the 2015 Creative Arts Emmys in LA on Saturday.

The couple had been together for 18 years before announcing their split after weeks of speculation about their relationship.

The TV star and his actress and director partner had not been photographed in public together since July.

It is not all bad news for Jon however as he is the favourite to finally win an Emmy on Sunday for his starring role in Mad Men.

He's been nominated seven times for Outstanding Lead Actor In A Drama Series but never picked up the prize.
