She's taken somewhat of a career break after giving birth to her second daughter in April last year.

But Drew Barrymore has thrown herself into the promotional trail of her new film - Miss You Already.

Drew, 40, cut a leggy figure as she was pictured leaving the ITV studios in London on Wednesday, following an appearance on Lorraine Kelly's early-morning chat show.

The He's Just Not That Into You actress struck the perfect balance between smart and casual as she slipped on a black woolen shift dress which was emblazoned with mini white feathers.

The statement frock featured bell-shaped sleeves and rested just above her knees, exposing the true extent of her toned and tanned legs.

Drew slipped on a pair of classic black court stilettos and accessorised with a Chanel pearl-chain necklace as well as a pair of designer sunglasses.

Drew was spotted following her chat with British TV favourite Lorraine during which she was joined by Miss You Already co-star, Toni Collette.

The pair star in the weepy comedy drama - which is set in London - as best friends Jess (Drew) and Milly (Toni) and which tells the story of the inseparable best friends.

They navigate everything life throws at them together but their friendship is put to the ultimate test when Milly discovers she has breast cancer.

'Not a Debbie downer': Despite the emotional plot, Toni, 42, maintained the film's underlying message is a positive one

Talking to Lorraine, the Australian actress admitted the cast and filmmakers were desperate 'not to misrepresent the experience of having cancer', which meant she was forced to shave her head five times.

Asked why she chose to take up the role, Drew said it wasn't the most convenient timing for her as she'd just had a baby but the fact it involved working so closely with her good friend Toni persuaded her to accept the offer.

She told her live on air: 'I came here to London to be with you. I love you and believe in you and I wanted you to know that I literally have your back with this.'

Despite the emotional plot, Toni maintained the film's underlying message is a positive one.

'It's not a Debbie Downer, it's a celebration of life,' she said.

On working with Toni, Drew added: 'We really are just having the best time.'

Miss You Already is scheduled for release in the UK on September 25
