'I'm sad things didn't go as planned': The Real's Adrienne Bailon and fiancé call off engagement after seven months

Adrienne Bailon has split from fiance Lenny Santiago after six years together.

The Real host told US Weekly that she and the Roc Nation exec have called off their seven-month engagement and parted ways.

'I am, of course, sad that things didn’t go as we planned, but we still remain close friends,' she told the magazine.

The 31-year-old added: 'Six years is a long time to be together, but we had to make the decision to go with our hearts and not be embarrassed or afraid of change.

'He absolutely helped make me a better person and I will forever cherish the time we shared together.'

Before meeting Santiago, the singer and actress previously dated Rob Kardashian from 2007 to 2009.

Bailon and Santiago, 44, announced their engagement in February and the former Cheetah Girl said at the time that she was 'excited to be marrying my best friend.'

Now they've broken up, she says she's focusing on her daytime TV show.  

'Right now I am taking time for myself and I'm glad to be back at work with my favorite ladies and the incredible crew of The Real,' she said.

'Life lessons are hard but I'm grateful that I have a platform to share my journey and hopefully encourage, inspire, or just let women know they are not alone and to never give up on finding love. I still believe.'

Season two of The Real premiered on Monday having been renewed following a stand out debut season on BET and Fox.

The panel talk show stars Bailon  along with Loni Love, Tamar Braxton, Tamera Mowry-Housley, and Jeannie Mai.

The women focus on beauty, fashion and relationships bringing their own diverse views and opinions to the table.
