Who you calling a bridal designer? Vera Wang ditches her signature romanticism for a dark and rebellious NYFW collection

  • Tory Burch also showed her spring/summer 2016 collection at New York Fashion Week on Tuesday morning

The front row set the scene: Rita Ora, Kylie Jenner and Bella Thorne, all wearing black.

Vera Wang, the queen of romanticism, sent out a rebellious spring/summer 2016 collection at New York Fashion Week Tuesday morning, with a mostly black line-up of crop crops and sheer tulle.

Soft feathers provided a little bit of added lux to the rocker-look collection, while two glittering paillette-covered dresses ended the show with the kind of showstopping sizzle the bridal designer is known for.

Be edgy in an oversized coat like Kylie

Kylie Jenner, who usually wears body-con mini dresses and skin-tight leggings and trousers, showed up to the Vera Wang show in exactly opposite mood: Oversize.

High-end designers have been turning out oversized coats and celebs like Rihanna are embracing them. We think this trend has yet to peak.

We particularly love Kylie's coat featuring the cut shoulders and way-too-long sleeves. We can still catch a glimpse of the crop top Kylie's wearing underneath, no doubt a nod to her usual form-fitting style which she can revert to by shedding the coat.

The best news about Kylie's coat is that it hails from Vera Wang's fall collection and you can buy it now at Farfetch. If nearly two grand is not possible at the moment, we've been scouring the web for some oversized alternatives.

The J. Crew Collection Avery wool-blend coat at The Outnet is a great buy for only $202 as is the boyfriend coat by Calvin Klein at Nordstrom for $152.76.

TORY BURCH

The antithesis of Vera Wang, Tory Burch showed a spring/summer 2016 collection with a breezy island beat.

Her love of travel often inspires her work, with past collections imbued with flavors of London, Marrakesh, the American Southwest and points beyond. For her latest collection, Burch dug a little deeper, unearthing textures and intricate details one might encounter in far-off lands.

'It's a bit more conceptual from an inspiration standpoint,' Burch explained prior to presenting her collection Tuesday. 'I wanted to highlight the idea that beauty happens over time, and the patina that time creates.'
