'The plastic surgery is just taking care of some things that she won't be able to take care of on her own,' the doctor told People before the procedure. 'No amount of diet or exercise is going to get rid of that loose skin. It's going to be a challenging surgery, but I think it's going to turn out great.'

The make-up artist, who became an internet sensation after hitting back at online bullies that accused her of faking her weight loss, has now had the skin removed in an eight-hour surgery by a doctor in Arizona - a procedure she had said she 'couldn't wait' for.

The surgery was performed by Dr. Remus Repta and included: a breast lift and augmentation to remove extra skin and replenish the volume she had lost, a tummy tuck, and a bra-line back lift.

Before the procedure, Simone told the publication that she was most looking forward to the practical aspects of her life that would be improved by the skin removal.

'Obviously I know I'm never going to have a perfect stomach, but [I'm looking forward to] the fact that when I'm exercising I won't need to tuck my loose skin into my pants, and know that I can put on a top like everyone else and not stress out about loose skin coming out.

'I will definitely feel more confident when it's gone.'

The surgery closely follows Simone's one year anniversary of her decision to turn her life around when, after using a commercial scale to discover her true weight, she realized she had to make a change.

'On August the 29th I made the decision to change my lifestyle and my habits once and for all,' Simone wrote on her Facebook page.

'I was always using the excuse, "I'm too busy to work out and eat healthy" when in reality I was just being lazy and unprepared.'

Since then, SImone has dropped her BMI of 51.6 to 25.6, and although she cut out all processed foods and lessened her portion sizes, she did not deny herself any foods she was craving and would often snack on chocolate or drink alcohol.

She celebrated reaching her goal back in July with a huge party among family and friends - crediting her three brothers with helping her along the way - and sporting a custom-made gown for the occasion.

She called the night: 'By far the best night I've ever had.'

Simone chose to document her entire journey through her Facebook page, posting a new progress photo each month, and the proud moment she discovered she had dropped half her weight.

However, not all of her followers were as excited by her weight loss, with some skeptics posting messages of doubt to her page.

'Fake in every way, some people believe anything ... different hair colour, different eyebrow colour, different cheekbones and the list goes on,' one skeptic wrote.

Simone decided to challenge the non-believers and shared another image that exposed her stretch marks and loose skin from the drastic change.

'I don't know why but every single comment that called me out for being fake and a liar really bothered me far more than it should,' she captioned the pictures.

I think it's because it took hours of crying and debating whether to share my story online and for others to see, posting the first picture online along with my weight for the world to see what the hardest thing I have ever done.'
