Dubbed Lionel Richie - All The Hits, the residency is currently 20 shows spread across April, May, September and October.

And as the name suggests, the crooner plans to perform his extensive back catalogue including All Night Long, Hello, Stuck on You, Dancing on the Ceiling and Say You, Say Me.

With 100 million album sales under his belt performances really could go All Night Long.

'I can’t wait to share ‘All the Hits, All Night Long’ with all of my fans – it’s a high energy show that is a perfect match for such a vibrant city!'

He told the LA Times that the decision to go the Vegas was partially because he just felt it was time and because his son Miles wanted to go.

He told the newspaper: 'My 21-year-old son, I said to him, ''Miles, what do you think about me playing Vegas?'' He said, ''Oh, my God, Dad, that’d be the coolest thing in the world!''

'So it’s just time. And it’s a perfect place to try out new material, to get close to what’s going on in the business.'

Lionel isjoining the ranks of some big names to play Vegas including Celine Dion, Elton John and most recently Britney Spears - someone the star is looking to for tips.

He told the LA Times he loves the current EDM culture in Sin City as well as singers on his own level: 'I love the DJ thing - that’s someone, believe it or not, pulling off a fabulous show without singing one note; that’s just strictly production.

'So you go see that, then you go see the main shows: Celine, Elton, Rod [Stewart]. Those are my contemporaries. I want to see what they’re doing, figure out what they’re about. And then you hit everything in between.

'I’m going to see Britney soon because I want to see what she does.'

Britney, of course, has just signed a two year extension to her successful Pieces Of Me residency which has reportedly netted her over $35 million.

Also getting on the residency bandwagon recently, was Jennifer Lopez who kicks off her 20-show residency January 20.
