It may not smell like teen spirit but it certainly smells like young love.

Ariana Grande danced up a storm in New York on Wednesday as she unveiled her new fragrance.

Going the tried and tested celebrity scent naming route, the eau de toilette is called Ari by Ariana Grande.

To celebrate her fragrance debut the 22-year-old hit the stage in Macy's Herald Square with two of her favourite men by her side - her brother Frankie J. and her rumoured love interest Ricky Alvarez.

It was first revealed that Ricky was more than just the pint sized pop star's backup dancer back in July when the pair were caught canoodling at a Californian donut shop.

Their relationship came to light because the two performers were not just playing kissy face with each other but also some unsuspecting donuts.

After Ariana declared she 'hated America' while licking the sugary treat, a scandal ensued but looks like the two have weathered that storm as Ricky remains on her dancing roster.

While there were no donuts insight on Wednesday, things were still very sugary sweet with Ariana putting on a classic pop princess performance for fans.

The star, her dancers and her DJ were all colour coordinated in purple and white to match her new scent's livery.

Her rumoured beau - the pair have yet to confirm their romance - matched with Ariana perfectly.

He - along with the other male backup dancers - wore white pants with pale purple short sleeve shirts.

The only one allowed to break out from the lavender and white colour scheme was Ariana's brother Frankie J. who wore bright orange and extra tight white shorts as he acted as her hype man before she came out.

Explaining her fragrance on Good Morning America the day before her official launch, the star described the scent as 'really sweet and yummy.'

Dishing on her debut scent, she said: 'I'm fairly new to the fragrance industry. But, it's really sweet, there's a little bit of marshmallow and a little bit of raspberry.'

The star also addressed her donut licking ways on the morning show.
