Looking tanned and relaxed - and sporting her much talked about new fringe - the Duchess of Cambridge arrived back at work on Thursday. Kate, 33, was at the Anna Freud Centre in North London to learn more about how it is helping to change mental health care for children and young people on her first engagement since taking the summer off to spend with her young family. Looking slim in a checked £1,245 Ralph Lauren shirtdress, Kate's funky new fringe was on full display as she chatted to staff on her arrival at the centre. Sources say that her decision to visit the site is significant and will set the tone for much of her work in the coming months. Leigh-Anne Varley, 36, pictured right, from Horden, County Durham, successfully hid her pregnancy and after giving birth in her bathroom left the child outside a block of flats, left, where it was found by a dog. The healthy child, named Jack by midwives, was discovered at around 5am and was treated at the local hospital. Varley was worried about splitting up her family if her husband found out and did not want to ruin a 'dream trip' to Disneyland that the family had planned, the court heard. Today Varley, who has another six-year-old son, walked free from court after she was handed a 14 week suspended sentence after pleading guilty to child neglect.

The Ashby St Ledgers estate where the Gunpowder plot was conceived is up for sale

The Ashby St Ledgers estate in rural Northamptonshire was once owned by Catholic rebel Robert Catesby, who masterminded the infamous assassination attempt in 1605.
