Oscar de la Renta designer Peter Copping presents extravagant bullfighting-inspired collection for New York Fashion Week
- Narciso Rodriguez also showed at New York Fashion Week Tuesday night
Peter Copping, who made his debut as the successor of Oscar de la Renta in February 2015, looked to the colors of bullfighting for his spring/summer 2016 collection.
It was an extravagant display of of deep crimson hues punctuated with black and decorated with bows, frills and skin-revealing lace; all partially inspired by Ava Gardner and her bullfighter lover in the 1950s.
Carnation prints were also scattered on dresses, skirts, and frilled blouses -- a reference to the ladies in wide-brim hats who throw red carnations into the ring after a bull fight.

NARCISO RODRIGUEZ
Narciso Rodriguez, who season after season turns out chic, high-polish collections, said he wanted to create something a little more 'undone' for spring/summer 2016.
This meant a more relaxed collection inspired by photographs of the ocean, using green and plum along with pinks, corals and browns in languid, yet highly tailored, clothes.
The designer also played with fabrics in a fantastical way: like sateen that looked like leather, and a reversible linen dress that underneath was silk chiffon.
