The boyfriend of a college student who was originally believed to have committed suicide has been charged with her murder.

Brandon Meade, 29, of Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, was arrested on Tuesday and charged with the murder of his girlfriend Agatha Hall.

The 21-year-old Temple University student was found dead inside a first floor apartment on the 2300 block of North Park Avenue, Philadelphia, on August 31.

Initially, police had believed Hall had committed suicide as she was found with a gunshot wound on the top left side of her forehead and gun beneath her.

Temple's head of campus services Charlie Leone said she was found dead in her bedroom as well as a 9mm handgun, according to philly.com.

But now, authorities believe Meade staged her death to look like a suicide after an autopsy concluded there was no way Hall’s wound was self-inflicted.

NBC10 reported Meade told police he found his girlfriend dead on the floor and on top of the gun leading them to believe she may have committed suicide.

But last week, the Medical Examiner’s office ruled it was ‘impossible’ for the victim to have fired the gun herself due to the location of the wound.

Police then ruled Hall’s death a homicide and investigators now allege that Meade killed Hall after the pair argued.

Hall's stepmother Jane Hoffman, who lives in Minneapolis, told NBC10 her stepdaughter was an 'A' student at Temple who majored in Finance.

‘I was shocked because you don't think that an 'A' student from a college who has overcome adversity could be subjected to something that quick and that violent,’ she said.

The victim was born in Liberia and during wartime, had spent time at a refugee camp.

She moved to America, where she lived in a number of different cities.

Despite losing her mother to cancer earlier this year, Hall was determined to graduate and working in International Business.

Hall's family is planning a memorial service for her in Minnesota next month.
