His wife Megan Fox filed for divorce last month.

And if his choice of clothing is any indication, Brian Austin Green seems to be having a rough time.

The 42-year-old actor had the words 'LIFE HURTS' emblazoned on his top while on an errand trip in Brentwood on Monday.

The heartbreaking text could be seen in full view as it was written in big, bold capitalised letters while he left the Whole Foods market in the affluent Los Angeles neighbourhood.

Despite the cryptic message on his shirt, the Beverly Hills, 90210 star seemed to be in good spirits as he flashed a smile while loading his purchases into the back of his SUV.

The text was superimposed over a photo of flowers printed on his long white vest, which he sported along with black fleece joggers which were pulled up to just under his knees.

He also donned a pair of bright orange Nike Free 4.0 Flyknit trainers and a pair of black designer shades.

He accessorised with two black bracelets on his wrists, and most notably, what looked like his wedding band on his left hand ring finger.

His estranged 29-year-old wife has opted to not do the same as she seemingly did away with hers as soon as news broke of the impending divorce - the star was first spotted without the ring on August 26 - five days after the split was made public.

The two stars seem to be cordial as they were spotted having a nice family outing together with their two sons three-year-old Noah and 19-month-old Bodhi on Saturday.

On the outing, Brian was once again spotted with the significant piece of jewellery while Megan was not as they left breakfast at Le Pain Quotidien in LA.

The Transformers actress cited 'irreconcilable differences' as the reason for filing her divorce petition last month.

Sources said at the time of the split news that the duo had separated six months prior and had been fighting about Megan's career and her 'obsession with getting roles'.

However, Megan stated June 15 as the official separation date on court documents.

Sources have suggested that the pair are still living under the same roof.

TMZ has also reported that Brian is likely to get spousal support from the actress as he suffers from vertigo - caused by a serious car accident he was involved in with Megan last year - which affects his ability to work.

The actors began a relationship in 2004 after meeting on the set of Hope & Faith and wed in 2010.
