Making a molehill out of a The Mountain: Giant Game Of Thrones star is beaten in arm wrestling contest by rival 200lb lighter

  • Game of Thrones actor Hafthór Björnsson defeated at arm wrestling
  • The 6ft9in 419lbs actor went up against champion Devon Larratt
  • Despite Larrat weighing just 225lbs, he beats Björnsson three times

The Viper was no match for the Mountain, but it appears Sir Gregor Clegane has finally met his master.

Game of Thrones actor Hafthór 'Thor' Björnsson suffered multiple defeats by a man nearly half his size - although in his defense, the opponent was a wrestling champion.

Björnsson, who plays Gregor 'The Mountain' Clegane on the hit series, went bicep to bicep with Canadian professional arm wrestler Devon Larratt.

The Icelandic actor and strongman, who is 6ft9in, weighs a neat 419lbs, while his opponent, two-time World Arm Wrestling League winner Larrat, weighs just 225lbs and is four inches shorter.

However, proving that arm wrestling is just as much about technique as muscle, Larratt defeated Björnsson no less than three times.

The video of their arm wrestling match sees Björnsson, who holds the title of Europe's Strongest Man, engage in a fruitless battle with Larratt.

Despite losing thrice to his much smaller opponent, Björnsson takes it all in his stride and happily concedes, throwing winning Larratt's arm in the air.

Earlier this year, the 25-year-old broke a 1,000-year-old weight lifting record to become 'The World's Strongest Viking'.

He lifted a 30-foot log, weighing 1,433lbs on his shoulders and carried it for five steps during the World's Strongest Viking competition in Norway.

The Icelandic strongman, who plays Gregor 'The Mountain' Clegane on the drama series based on the books by George R R Martin, has now got his eyes on the World's Strongest Man-title.

His feat beat the previous record set by a legendary Icelander named Orm Storulfsson, who carried a log that weighed more than 650 kilograms for three steps before his back reportedly broke.

At 6ft9in, Björnsson began his sports career as a professional basketball player in Reykjavik, but was forced to give up on his dreams following a serious knee injury.

After bumping into former World's Strongest Man, fellow Icelander Magnús Ver Magnússon, at the gym, he began weight lifting, winning Iceland's strongest man five years in a row.

As well as winning Europe's Strongest Man in 2014 and defending his title this year, he has two bronze spots for World's Strongest Man and was runner up last year.

Despite the numerous weight-lifting accolades, he is best known for his performance as The Mountain during the fierce and deadly duel with Prince Oberyn 'Red Viper' Martell during the fourth series of Game of Thrones.
