It has been a month since she adopted her aptly-named daughter, August.

And clearly, after a few weeks of home-nurturing, Charlize Theron finally felt ready to step out with the youngster in LA, where she was spotted for the first time on Wednesday.

The blonde star was seen out-and-about with her new addition to her family, whom she'd covered with a blanket to protect from the rain.

Cutting a casual figure as she navigated the streets of West Hollywood, the Mad Max star dressed down for her outing, teaming a navy sweater with matching skinny jeans.

Keeping it practical for the weather, she capped the outfit with a pair of wellies.

Scraping her hair up into a casual bun, the acclaimed performer also went make-up free - proving that she really is a natural beauty.

And as she walked across town, the 40 year-old cradled baby August in her arms - ensuring she was protected from both the weather, and prying eyes.

Reports first surfaced that Charlize had adopted a second child, late last month. 

According to TMZ, the award-winner - who also adopted her four-year-old son Jackson from South Africa in 2012 - took custody of the African-American tot after working with with a US adoption agency for six months.

The superstar has candidly spoken about her desire to adopt since she was a child in the past. 

Opening up about a letter she penned as a young girl, she previously told Hello! magazine: 'It said, "Would you please take me to an orphanage, so that I can go and adopt a baby?"

'I always knew I would adopt. Always.'

Back in May, the blonde beauty admitted she was 'open' to having more children, but gave no hints she was planning on adopting again.

Asked if she would like more kids, she said: 'Yeah. I mean, I'm so open to anything in my life. I was never like, 'Oh god no just one.' I was always kind of open to whatever kind of happens.' 

The momentous occasion follows heartache for the Monster star, who called off her engagement to 54-year-old Sean Penn several months ago.

UsWeekly reported that Charlize called off the engagement after she and Sean spent time together in Europe in May.
