Tom Brady throws his support behind Donald Trump just hours before the presidential hopeful takes the stage in the Republican debate

  • Tom Brady officially came out in support of presidential hopeful Donald Trump on Wednesday
  • When asked if he thought Trump could win, Brady said; 'I hope so. That would be great. There’d be a putting green on the White House lawn'
  • One of Trump's Make America Great hats had previously been photographed in Brady's locker, something he called a 'nice keepsake'
  • Trump thanked Brady for his support shortly before the Republican debate, writing; 'A great honor from somebody that knows how to win!'
  • Brady blew off a chance to meet President Obama at the White House earlier this year when his fellow Patriots went for the Super Bowl reception

Tom Brady is Team Trump.

The New England Patriots quarterback appeared to be a fan of the presidential hopeful when one of Trump's Make America Great Again hats was photographed in his locker, but now the football great has officially come out in support of the real estate mogul.

When asked by reporters on Wednesday just hours before the Republican debate if he thought Trump could win it all, Brady said; 'I hope so. That would be great.'

He then added; 'There’d be a putting green on the White House lawn. I know that.'

WEEI reports that Brady was then asked about his hat.

'It was a nice keepsake ... a nice piece of memorabilia he sent me," said Brady.

Reporters also wondered if Brady might have any tips for Trump before he headed into tonight's debate, to which he said 'No.'

Trump seemed to be overjoyed to get the support, and as he so often does took to Twitter to express his thoughts.

'A great honor from somebody that knows how to win!' said Trump of Brady's endorsement.

Brady's endorsement may have something to do with the support he has received from Trump over the years, especially during the Deflategate scandal.

Back in May Trump wrote on Twitter; 'I hope Tom Brady sues the hell out of the @nfl for incompetence and defamation. They will drop the case against him – and he will win.'

Trump also admitted earlier this month that he and Brady frequently speak, calling him a 'good friend.'

The Associated Press reports that a review of Federal Election Commission records does not show Brady ever giving money to a federal politician.

One person Brady does not seem to be a fan of is President Barack Obama, who he snubbed this year when the Patriots had a reception at the White House for winning the Super Bow, saying he had a family commitment.

Despite the snub, President Obama still mentioned Brady's amazing Super Bowl play that day and his expert touchdown passes.
