Dutch King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima arrive at the Binnenhof during the 'Prinsjesdag' (Prince's Day) in The Hague, The Netherlands, but are caught in the rain
The couple arrived in an opulent golden carriage to a sea of cheering fans.
The carriage, which is made from teak wood and covered with gold leaf, is used by the royals to travel from the King's offices at Noordeinde Palace to Parliament.
Originally the property of Dutch Queen Wilhelmina, it will undergo 'maintenance over the next three or four years,' the Dutch government said in a statement.
The duo were cheered by hundreds of well-wishers who braved the rain and lined the streets to catch a glimpse of the royals.
After arriving at Parliament's Knights' Hall, which was built in the 13th century, King Willem-Alexander delivered a speech written by Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, outlining the government's plans for the year.
The Dutch equivalent of the State Opening of Parliament, Prinsjesdag sees the monarch give details of the government's programme for the next financial year, as well as budget allocations.
