Racy in lace! Kate Mara flashes her legs in mini dress as she leads a host of celebrities on and off the catwalk as Marc Jacobs show closes NYFW
It was arguably one of the biggest shows of New York Fashion Week.
So it was fitting Marc Jacobs' line up on the catwalk was just as stella as it was off of it.
The fashion designer who closed the event on Thursday, had Kendall Jenner, Bella Hadid, Karen Elson and singer Beth Ditto hitting the runway in his creations.

And Joan Smalls, Karen Elson, Alek Wek, and Grace Bol, also strutted their stuff.
The event was held in the Zeigfeld Theatre, which emits the feel of Hollywood from yesteryear.
Among those who had gathered to watch the show was Kate Mara, resplendent in a short black lace dress which featured sequins and velvet.
Monochrome: Her black and white mini dress was fitting for the event which closed NYFW
She accessorised with a white over the shoulder bag and detailed white shoes.
Bette Midler and her daughter Sophie von Haselberg were also at the show.
The Wind Beneath My Wings singer wore an all black shirt and trousers outfitwith cute spotted high heel shoe boots.

There was no mistaking her daughter as their likeness was astounding.
Sophie also went for black, but added a splash of colour to her ensemble with a jacket featuring brown, white and navy squares.
They were joined by Winona Ryder, who put in a rare appearance.

Chic: Fashionista Rachel Zoe wore a pair of dark denim 70’s style jeans with a cape jacket slung around her shoulders, while Glee’s Dianna Agron went for a splash of colour in an ankle length gown

No Neo here: Lana Wachowski who directed The Matrix, showed off pink and white dreadlocks with her monochrome knee length skirt and black top.
She teamed it with a pair of black strappy closed toe shoes.
The actress wore her blonde locks in a side part.
Meanwhile Debbie Harry went for an eclectic look, with a black leather and wool dress, which featured sleeves with wave style cut outs.

The frock stopped just above the knee and she wore a pair of Japanese style flat sandals.
Lana Wachowski, who directed The Matrix, showed off pink and white dreadlocks with her monochrome knee length skirt and black top.
Actress Debi Mazar attended with her daughter – the Entourage actress wore a charcoal and black checked knee length dress with leather bands.

The collection was announced on a billboard outside, the street packed with rubberneckers as well as those who wanted to see exactly what was going to be gracing the ‘catwalk.’
The venue itself, with its velvet seats and dark interior, those watching were transported back the days of the 1930’s.
And the designers collection evoked that very feel - a mish mash of luxurious colours and fabrics, along with classic cuts.

Peekaboo shorts, skirts were long, silk and sequins featured.
Thigh high slits, and Marilyn Monroe inspired gowns, he covered it all.
The models make up had a sheeny sweaty look, as if they had been partying all night long.

The look created by Francois Nars, was intended to evoke rough glamour, mixed with rock.
The onlookers, which were made of up a mix of old and new celebrities as well as fashion doyennes, were handed a Playbill as a program, and given popcorn as they waited for the fun to begin.
On it were pictures of screaming models, like those seen on vintage film posters.

The show itself started outside, with models posing in front of a step and repeat, like film stars do before going into a premiere.
For that is what this show was, as Marc Jacobs does so well, his own twist on glamour, celebrity and fame.
Kendall Jenner made an appearance in a white, plum and purple ensemble, with Victoriana styles shoes.

Her hair as piled up on her head in a sophisticated ponytail, featuring diamante clips.
Meanwhile Emily Ratajkowski, who made her runway debut, wore a twist on a sailor suit, the model turned actress teaming her three –quarter length trousers with high heeled dainty shoes.
Beth Ditto wowed in a white gown and strode down the catwalk with buckets of panache.

Sashay in silk: Alek Wek stunned in a lace and hotpants ensemble
She told Elle backstage about being asked to do the show: ‘I got an email, and then I answered it, and then I flew here for a fitting.’
She wore a white evening gown with metallic silver embellishments, which featured 3/4 length sleeves, and a thigh-high slit.
And she made full use of her feather boa, in the style of a 1930’s film star.

After the fun had finished Kate was seen leaving the show with beau Jamie Bell.
The pair exited the venue together.
